Because we are a dairy, and our cows have calves every year, we inevitably have some boy calves. In most dairies, the boy calves are sold or turned to veal.
We like to keep the calves on their moms for at least five months, and then raise them as beef cows, so they can live longer and grow to full size. This gives them the opportunity to drink milk in their early development stages, develop a relationship with their moms who can teach them life and grazing skills, EAT LOTS OF GRASS while fertilizing our pastures, and form relationships with their peers.
This is 100% grass fed meat folks, raised on moms milk. Our breeds are all duel-purpose (milk and meat) heritage breeds (including Brown Swiss, Ayershire and Milking Devons), so the meat is healthy and unique
